And so it Begins

Hello, I'm Michael, I'm a theatre major at the college in town. I currently live with my two roommates: Shandi who is another theatre major, and Danni who is a graduate. Both of them have a pet. This blog will serve as a way to document the interaction between the two of them and the rest of the household (the people-ie portion for the most part). It should also be noted that this post will be much longer than any other post due to the fact its the exposition and such. I'm sorry in advance. Shandi owns Coco the cat who was part of the whole "being roommates" bit and all. Danni owns Charlie the dog who has only be with us for 3 days. It happens that Danni comes into the living-room (my room-in-acting) that day and announces, "I want a dog." She proceeds to grab her purses and she leaves. This is a few hours before I leave for a rehearsal at one of the community theatres downtown. I come back at around 8:30 pm (6ish hours after Danni had left) to find a dog in my bed. And he was really happy to see me ...and the TV, the chairs, the wall, Coco (he REALLY liked Coco), well in short he liked the EVERYTHING. The interaction when a little like so:

Charlie: OH HELLO! I AM A DOG! ARE YOU A DOG! I LIKE YOU EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT A DOG!
Me:       .....Danni, why is there a dog on my bed?
Coco:     It sure wasn't my idea.
Charlie: OH MAN, IS THAT THE CAT? THAT IS THE CAT! I LIKE THE CAT EVEN IF HE IS NOT A DOG!
Coco:    Shut. Up.
Me:       DANNI!

Danni came in and explained that she had bought Charlie and he was now his, so I was a bit less miffed at the fact there was a dog on my bed. So after a bit of time bonding with with new member of our family, Danni desides to take Charlie on a walk. Shandi is already at work so I am left with Coco who is really hungry (hes fed in the mornings). So he comes to me with a great idea:

Coco:  Hey, hey Michael.
Me:    *fixing some Velveeta* Yes Coco?
Coco:  You should let me eat the lesser mortal's food.
Me:     Lesser what? Wait the dog's? No, its not cat food, you'll get sick or something.
Coco:  You should let me eat your food then.
Me:    *looks at Velveeta* HAHAHAHAHAHANO.

Danni then came back with Charlie, he got a round of "HELLO AGAIN"s and "GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE"s. This would end all the events for the day. The next morning would start off with an unprecedented amount of licks to the face.

Charlie: GOOD *lick* MORNING *lick MI- *lick* CHAEL!
Me:       Morn- hey that's my face dog!
Charlie: L *lick* O *lick* L.
Coco:     *starts to wake up* Shut up lesser mortal.
Me:        Dog! You're still licking me!
Charlie: YEP *lick* I *lick* KNOW! *lick*
Coco:     Fine, I'll wake up. Lesser mortal.... Michael good morn-
Charlie: TOO LATE I SAID IT FIRST! ......*lick*

For a few hours nothing too exciting happens. Then Shandi takes Danni goes to run some errands, leaving Charlie for the first time.

Danni:   We'll be back in about 30 minutes Michael.
Me:       Cool, see you then.
Charlie: I GET TO COME TOO RIGHT?!?!
Danni:    Bye Charlie, I love you and I'll see you soon! *closes door*
Charlie: WAIT! YOU LEFT ME! .....Michael why isn't she coming back for me?
Coco:     Humans tend to do that: go out without you.
Me:       She'll just be gone for a little bit, she'll be back soon.
Charlie: OH OKAY THEN! *sits in front of the door*
Coco:     ......Are you waiting for her to come back?
Charlie: ......Maybe.

He stayed like that for 10 minutes periodicity asking "IS IT SOON YET?" to which the answer was "No, not yet." For the last 20 minutes he sat on Danni's bed cuddled on her pillow. When she came home there was a rejoicing like never before:

Charlie:    OH MAN YOU ARE BACK AND I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! SO SO MUCH!
Danni:      Oh hi there Charlie! Did you miss me?
Coco/Me: ....You have no idea.

Danni then asks me to walk Charlie since she needed to take a shower and he needed to be walked. So Charlie and I head out and I, who haves a few friends in the area who also have dogs, think that Charlie getting to meet some other dogs would be cool. Big mistake. The two dogs are both about twice his size, one vertically (Jax) and the other horizontally (Max), in short they kinda dwarfed him. And it scared him. A lot. It also doesn't help that he was immediately cornered by the two in their efforts to find out who this new dog was. After about 5 minutes of trying to keep the bigger dogs (mostly Max who doesn't get the concept of "BUZZ OFF") off of Charlie, Charlie was able to 're'meet the bigger dogs in a situation where neither of them where cornering him and he felt a little less threatened. The whole event summed up was something to the effect of:

Charlie: O GOD WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME MICHAEL?!?!?!
Me:        Calm down, its going to be okay.
Max:      Play? *I push him away*
Charlie: "CALM DOWN?!?!?!" BE "OKAY?!?!?!?!?!?!" ARE YOU INSANE?
Me:        Yes, a little bit but just stay here with me and I will keep you safe, I promise.
Max:      PLAY? *I push him away*
Charlie: ....Fine.
Max:      PLAY!?
Charlie: NO PLAY! BUZZ OFF!
Max:      .....So play?
Charlie: You are a special kind of stupid aren't you?
Max:     PLAY?!?!?!?! *lots of slobbery licks to my forearm*
Charlie: .......Ya, Michael, we're done here.

After that we went down to finish our walk we met a small family of 3, a mom, a dad and a small girl, maybe  5 or 6 years old. She was very interested in Charlie as you might expect, however he was very gentle with her despite the aggravation brought by the bigger dogs just moments before. She chased him around and he let her pet him to her little energetic heart's desire. She then excitedly told Charlie, her mom, her dad and myself, "I have to pee!" and ran off into her house. Her parents told me that if Charlie and I ever wanted to leave we should do it while that little girl was inside. We took their advice. Once we got back home, Danni scooped the happy and slightly sleepy Charlie up and lead him off to bed. And as I unfolded my bed, Coco joined me and as I lay down he came to cuddle with me as if to say:

Coco: You haven’t forgot about me right?
Me:    Of course not Coco, I won’t forget you.
Coco: Okay *yawn* goodnight Michael.
Me:    Good *yawn* night Coco.
